For my rigging show
reel, I thought I such include a bird in order to show that I am good at
creating rigs for animals. I tried to find a non-rigged bird to save time,
however I couldn’t find a cheap one, and I also came to a conclusion that by
showing my modelling skills I would be more employable due to be able to offer
more than the job required.
To start off with I
created a plane, in order to apply an image to use as a template
After I had applied the marital to the plane I had to create
a new uv on it’s face in order for it to show fully
After I created a cube and then went onto the front view and
placed it in the middle of the template
I then began to move the vertices in order to match to
image.
I went into the normal view and selected the one of the faces
Going back to the front view I then clicked on the extrude
option
Then moved the new face further onto the template
I then moved the vertices into the shape of the image
I selected another face on the cube
I extruded it and shaped it into an image of the bird
After I extruded one of the top faces
Moved the face upwards and moved the vertices to match the
head
I
repeated this process
I then extruded one of the side faces
In order to create the beak
I added an edge to shape it more to the image
I continued to shape the vertices
Going back to the normal view I then selected the back side
face
After I did a repeated face extrusion method to create the
tail and then used the vertices to give it more shape
As the image below shows
I went on the normal view and began to narrow the beak
I added an edge and selected the two faces
I extruded then in order to make the beak longer
After I shape it to the image
I went back to the other vertices to shape the mesh
more
Then went back to the side view and shaped the tail more
After I pulled out the side edges in order to make the model
more circular
